The clients’ brief was for an overhaul of the entire garden, with a focus on creating a modern and practical outdoor entertaining area and plenty of play area for their two young daughters. The large maple tree in the back garden was pivotal to the rear garden design. Large rectangular bluestone steppers were inset into the exposed aggregate driveway creating a striking walkway to the front door. Electronic gates were installed to create easy car access and security. The concept of the bluestone boulders in the front garden was repeated in the rear creating a dramatic connecting element between the two zones. In the back garden, generously proportioned bluestone-capped day beds envelope the modular bluestone paving creating a zone between adults' and children's areas. The spacious entertaining area also features an inbuilt stainless steel BBQ. Scented plants including gardenias and white daphne were planted near the entertaining zone for scent throughout the seasons alongside a display of English box cloud clipping. The addition of concealed storage along the 'blind' side of the house allowed for the removal of the old garden shed. |
